Korea Daily previewed Gwanghee, a large-scale original dance drama created to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korean Liberation and presented at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on August 16, 2025.
The production brought together about 60 performers and traced a young woman’s journey through the Donghak movement, the Japanese colonial period, and the defense of Korean cultural identity. Led by General Director Eung Hwa Kim, the work combined traditional Korean dance, pansori, modern dance, and period-inspired movement.
